• News Release: 4/10/2020 School Board to Hold Electronic Meeting on April 14

Previously scheduled business meeting format changed due to COVID-19

The previously announced Chesterfield County School Board business meeting at 6 p.m. April 14 will not take place in the county government’s Public Meeting Room, located at 10001 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield, as originally scheduled.

The April 14 School Board in-person business meeting has been changed to an electronic meeting, where School Board members are not assembled in one location to help mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

The April 14 School Board business meeting will take place electronically in accordance with Continuity of County Government Ordinance adopted by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors on March 25 and the adoption of the Resolution of the School Board confirming the County ordinance that will take place during the business meeting. The April 14 business meeting agenda starts at 6:30 p.m.

The change will ensure the continuity of School Board operations, and allow for public input while encouraging residents to continue to stay at home and practice social distancing, as ordered by the Governor and state health officials.

    • Citizens wishing to comment on Agenda and Non-Agenda Items must submit their comments using the online form found here: https://tinyurl.com/CCPSComment. Citizens may submit their online comments in advance of the School Board meeting until 2 p.m. on April 14. All electronic comments will be distributed to School Board members prior to the beginning of the meeting.

    • A general synopsis of the comments submitted via the online form will be recorded in the minutes of the meeting.

Prior to the adjournment of the business meeting, the School Board will adjourn into closed session in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act for the discussion and consideration of employee matters. After exiting the closed session, the School Board will enter into Open Session for the purposes of certifying the closed session, voting on matters discussed in closed session, and adjourning the business meeting. There will be no discussion of other public matters after the Board adjourns into closed session.

  • “Relaunch Chesterfield” Aims to Reopen Chesterfield Businesses

    What?

Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, Chesterfield Cabinet and Chesterfield County have united to support a coordinated relaunching of the Chesterfield economy.   Relaunch focuses on issues for businesses and elected officials around the county to consider as reopening plans are made. "Relaunch Chesterfield" is meant to work in conjunction with the Governors’ Covid-19 Business Task Force recommendations as they too begin the work of relaunching Virginia’s economy.

"Relaunch Chesterfield" will be developed in partnership with business leaders across a broad array of industry sectors and organizations around the county, including but not limited to the following sections:

    • Health and Safety First/Internal & External Customers
    • Retail
    • Restaurants
    • Hospitality
    • Arts & Entertainment
    • Healthcare Services
    • Personal Care Service Industry
    • K-12 Education & Childcare and Daycare

"Relaunch Chesterfield" is meant to serve as a start to the conversation for returning more employees and businesses to work, rather than serving as a final, prescriptive set of answers or solutions.

We are currently seeking participants to work and lead in these individual industry workgroups.  Please submit your information to be considered for an interested industry cluster workgroup by clicking here.

    Why?
Businesses are resilient in creating opportunities to thrive in challenging conditions.  Businesses ability to pivot their business model and allow others to learn from that change is important for the greatest number of businesses to relaunch. By joining efforts and bringing businesses and resources together we have the ability to make adjustments quickly and start commerce sooner.

When the Commonwealth is ready to open Virginia, Chesterfield will be ready to open.

    How?
We are looking for 8-10 people for each industry workgroup indicated to develop a framework for success.  Models and examples are already available as a guide from across the Country.  Workgroups using best practices can have the best opportunity for a successful plan.
