• News Release: 3/27/2020 CCPS News Release: CEF, CIS, CCPS FACE Responds to COVID-19

Chesterfield, VA. March 26, 2020 – Our community has been faced with a challenging time given our current environment. We understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on our families and students. From schools closing for the remainder of the academic school year and halting educational opportunities to families facing economic instability and food insecurity, the hardships many are facing are not going unnoticed. A lot has been thrown at Chesterfield County and the world during these last two weeks. However, even with all of that, we still have people asking, “How can we support our community members in need?”

The Chesterfield Education Foundation, in partnership with Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Family and Community Engagement Office and Communities In Schools of Chesterfield, have created different avenues of support. CEF established an Emergency Response Fund to accept donations for Chesterfield families that are in need to combat the impact made by COVID-19. Donations to this fund will be used to serve students and families in our community who are affected by COVID-19 as well as assist in other foundation priorities.

Communities In Schools of Chesterfield and CCPS Family and Community Engagement Office are hosting a Supply Drive so that students have what they need to continue to learn and thrive during the school closures. The supply drive will be between March 31st and April 2nd between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The location of the supply drive will be held at Chesterfield Career and Technical Center @ Hull Street, items will be dropped off through Door 20 (13900 Hull Street Rd. Midlothian, VA 23112). All donations should be new and sanitized, some items that are needed are as follows: school supplies, enrichment activities, hygiene items, and household items.

To donate to the Emergency Response Fund visit CEF’s website at cefva.org and for more information regarding the supply drive please contact Wendy Lively at wendy_lively@ccpsnet.net or you can visit cisofchesterfield.org.

  • “Relaunch Chesterfield” Aims to Reopen Chesterfield Businesses

Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, Chesterfield Cabinet and Chesterfield County have united to support a coordinated relaunching of the Chesterfield economy.   Relaunch focuses on issues for businesses and elected officials around the county to consider as reopening plans are made. "Relaunch Chesterfield" is meant to work in conjunction with the Governors’ Covid-19 Business Task Force recommendations as they too begin the work of relaunching Virginia’s economy.

"Relaunch Chesterfield" will be developed in partnership with business leaders across a broad array of industry sectors and organizations around the county, including but not limited to the following sections:

    • Health and Safety First/Internal & External Customers
    • Retail
    • Restaurants
    • Hospitality
    • Arts & Entertainment
    • Healthcare Services
    • Personal Care Service Industry
    • K-12 Education & Childcare and Daycare

"Relaunch Chesterfield" is meant to serve as a start to the conversation for returning more employees and businesses to work, rather than serving as a final, prescriptive set of answers or solutions.

We are currently seeking participants to work and lead in these individual industry workgroups.  Please submit your information to be considered for an interested industry cluster workgroup by clicking here.

Businesses are resilient in creating opportunities to thrive in challenging conditions.  Businesses ability to pivot their business model and allow others to learn from that change is important for the greatest number of businesses to relaunch. By joining efforts and bringing businesses and resources together we have the ability to make adjustments quickly and start commerce sooner.

When the Commonwealth is ready to open Virginia, Chesterfield will be ready to open.

We are looking for 8-10 people for each industry workgroup indicated to develop a framework for success.  Models and examples are already available as a guide from across the Country.  Workgroups using best practices can have the best opportunity for a successful plan.
