Chesterfield resident rides to raise money for students and the Chesterfield Food Bank!
For Immediate Release:
Chesterfield, VA. May 2020 – In April, Bobby Kelland saw many organizations in Chesterfield collaborating to support the families and students impacted by COVID-19 and was moved by their efforts. He knew he had to do his part and set out to raise funds for Chesterfield families and students.
The past four summers Bobby has done a charity bike ride, raising funds each time for a different non-profit. Because of this history, Bobby felt it was best to replicate this and raise funds for families and individuals in Chesterfield who have been affected by the shutdown, specifically the children who have been impacted by not having school meals available to them.
On May 10th
, Bobby, along with others, rode 40 miles along West Creek Parkway. The story of the day, however, is the funds raised for the Chesterfield Food Bank and Chesterfield Education Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund! During the leadup to the 10th
, Bobby worked diligently to corral support for these two organizations and at the completion of May 10th
Bobby was able to raise $4,165 dollars.
These funds will be used exclusively to provide food for those who need it and assist with purchasing WiFi hotspots for the children to do their schoolwork. While the bike ride may be completed, the need in our communities continue to grow. Because of this, you can still support Bobby’s fundraiser through Friday, May 15th.
