CHAMPS Committee Presented “CHAMPIONS” Certificates After Students Spent 10 Weeks Learning Career Readiness.
Chesterfield, VA- Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Helping Achieve Meaningful Partnerships in School (CHAMPS) recently presented students at Carver Career College Academy and Clover Hill High School with “CHAMPION” certificates after a ten-week program.
“Chesterfield County business leaders directly engaging students in Chesterfield County Public Schools are the types of connections that will help develop our future workforce. Our investment in them now will give them the tools they need to keep pace with a competitive job market,” said Amy Dufour, CHAMPS Committee Member, representing Capital Ale. “Next semester Champion programs will be offered at Matoaca and Meadowbrook.”
CHAMPS is a program that cultivates and supports workforce development. Chamber members volunteer their time to provide hands on learning experience to develop their real-world skills. CHAMPS mission is to foster a strong, supportive relationship between Chesterfield Chamber member businesses and Chesterfield County Public Schools. They seek active engagement from the Chamber businesses in order to prepare the future workforce and promote quality opportunities that provide ongoing support to public education in Chesterfield County. CHAMPS curriculum is supported by Junior Achievement Central Virginia. The Chamber CHAMPS program in sponsored annually with the support of The Chesterfield Observer and Publix Stores.
