Enhancing Chesterfield Housing: Conversation with Jesse Smith
What does the future housing landscape of Chesterfield look like? Jesse Smith, newly appointed Deputy County Administrator for Community Development for Chesterfield will discuss how the Community Enhancement department sparks affordable housing solutions and community revitalization in Chesterfield in this informal talk. Mr. Smith oversees the Community Enhancement Department as well as operations of multiple other county departments and programs, including Building Inspection, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Transportation and Utilities.
The Department of Community Enhancement administers Community Development Block Grant Funding as well as addressing housing improvement needs for the county. Habitat is a recipient of CDBG funding, which we are currently using to do critical home repairs in the county. We also are working on a build project in Ettrick and completed a project in the Beulah area this year.
Richmond Habitat is committed to increasing the number of Chesterfield residents that we serve and partnering further with the County. We have also set the ambitious goal to double the total number of families we serve in Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico over the next five years.
