School of the Month Program
The School of the Month program, a joint venture of the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce and the Chesterfield Public Education Foundation, will highlight monthly an elementary and a secondary Chesterfield County public school. Each school will receive a monetary prize from the Chesterfield Public Education Foundation and a corporate partner, recognition at the monthly Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Chamber Night Out and will be featured in local and regional media.
The School of the Month designation is designed not as a competition but as a program that will build greater understanding and support of the schools throughout the county. It is anticipated that this program would run during the nine month school year for four years in order to recognize each of the sixty-four public schools at least once.
Purpose:
• Inform the public about what is going on in the county schools
• Highlight students, teachers, administration and programs
• Build pride and support for the schools in the community and local neighborhoods
• Foster partnerships between businesses and schools
• Increase public understanding of the need for continuing investment in public schools is an investment in a thriving, attractive community
